I wholeheartedly recommend both women and men take a few minutes to watch Rosalind Jackson’s TEDX talk The Woman You Become. Rosalind Jackson is a gynecologist and pediatrician and has really sound advice regarding the menopause. Her straight talking is refreshing – and she’s funny too!
I went back today to view this talk again and the title really resonated with me this time around the woman you become. Looking back to 2016 when my hot flushes were so debilitating the August Rose slip completely changed my life.
It’s been a real eye opener to me to see so much conflicting advice out there. Trying to make sense of it all can be overwhelming. So many books all saying different things and when you are coping with brain fog and the concentration span of a goldfish. Who wants to read a book anyway. We need to reach out and talk and develop understanding. It just comes down to the fact that all women are going to go through the menopause and every woman will experience the transition differently. For myself I have waded through so many articles on the menopause and books too. What I really wanted was a cup of tea and a friendly chat with an older woman to just reassure me that I wasn’t going bonkers. My problem was that I was so naive – I believed the menopause was the end! End of what? I was timid as a mouse and felt ashamed of my body. I still wear my magnets and the hot flushes are very few and far between. The menopause has changed me and changed me for the better…I’m loving the woman I am becoming.
Rosalind Jackson has it summed up so well.Be Bold! Be Confident! Thank you Roz.
